- OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulates safety in the work place and therefore worker exposure to chemicals.
- IDOL (Illinois Department of Labor) will respond to complaints about worker safety at UIC.
- NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) sets standards for storage and handling of flammable and combustible chemicals.
- EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) regulates solid waste disposal, in particular hazardous chemical waste.
- DOT (Department of Transportation) regulates the safe transportation of hazardous chemicals.
